Summary:
Males of this large species of Pseudocoris are dark bluish- to greenish-grey with narrow black bars on the sides followed by a white bar, an elongate first dorsal-fin spine and filamentous lobes on the tail. Females are reddish to greenish-grey with a pale snout and chin.

Distribution |
Recorded in the Australian EEZ from Cocos (Keeling) Islands and Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean, and reefs in the Coral Sea (Herald and Holmes). Elsewhere, the species is known from scattered localities in the East-Indo-west-central Pacific from Indonesia and Cocos-Keeling Islands to the Tuamotu Archipelago and the Line Islands. Inhabits deep outer reef drop-offs where small groups feed on plankton well above the bottom, often off reef faces, usually in depths greater than 20 m. |
