Summary:
This deep red coffinfish with its red shaggy lure was collected off southern Queensland. While it may be Chaunacops coloratus, a species described from the Cocos Ridge off Panama in the Eastern Pacific, further research will determine if it is a new Australian record, or even a new species.

Fabulous footage of Chaunacops coloratus filmed by an ROV (remote operated vehicle) on Davidson Seamount— an extinct volcano off the coast of Central California, USA.

Video of Chaunacops coloratus filmed on the Barracuda Bank southeast of the British Virgin Islands, October 2013.
