Summary:
A small pale grey goby with brown saddles on top of the head extending ventrally to middle of the preoperculum, a second brown saddle across the nape extending to pectoral region, and a broad, dark brown lateral stripe from pectoral-fin region to the caudal-fin base.

Distribution

Coral Sea, east of Cape York, Queensland. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical west Pacific. Inhabits shallow reefs from the intertidal zone to a depth of  15 m.

Features

Dorsal fin V-VI + I, 10; Anal fin I, 9-10; Longitudinal scale series 31-34.
Body depth 6.4 in SL; pelvic fins fully united, frenum present; barbels present on snout, tip of chin, and ventrally below lower jaw. Scales cycloid, absent from cheek and operculum; scales deeply embedded on nape; nasal and posterior interorbital sensory pores absent. Caudal fin rounded.
