Summary:

A reddish-orange rockcod with very large eyes and covered in an irregular pattern of small whitish spots.

A Pacific Rockcod on 9 Mile Reef, Tweed heads, northern New South Wales.

Distribution

Recorded in the Australian region from Tweed Heads to Shellharbour, NSW, and  Middleton Reef, Elizabeth Reef and Lord Howe Island, and Norfolk Island in the Tasman Sea. Occurs elsewhere in Southern Oceania - eastern Australia and northern New Zealand to Easter Island and Desventuradas Islands off Chile. Inhabits rocky reefs in depths of 10-50 m.
