Summary:
A rusty-brown fairy wrasse with a dark bluish-green head and anterior body, a broad bright yellowish stripe along the midside behind the pectoral fin, an oblique dark line on the pectoral-fin base, and a white underside. Juveniles and females are greenish-brown with fine pale blue spots, a pale underside and a black spot on upper tail base that disappears with growth.

Distribution

Endemic to Rowley Shoals and Scott Reef, Western Australia, also Ashmore, Cartier, and Hibernia reefs, Timor Sea, and Flinders Shoal, NE of Darwin, Northern Territory.
Occurs in groups over rubble and coral areas in depths to 40 m.
