Summary:
A semitransparent greyish cardinalfish with an orange head, close-set narrow orange somewhat vertical lines along side, a large black spot on the caudal peduncle, two blue stripes on the snout to the eye, and a white tip on the anal fin.

Distribution |
Off Tantabiddi Creek, WA, to Escape Reef, QLD, Scott Reef, WA, and Ashmore and Cartier Islands in the Timor Sea. Occurs elsewhere in the tropical, Indo-west-central Pacific. Inhabits coastal reefs and reef lagoons. A nocturnal species that usually forming dense aggregations above branching corals or at cave entrances during the day. |
