Summary:
Colourful hulafish with bright red, yellow, black and white stripes. Males have a distinct lanceolate caudal fin, whereas females have a more rounded caudal fin. 
The common names 'hulafish' refers to undulating swimming motion of this species.

Distribution

Endemic to eastern Australia from Moreton Bay, QLD, to Green Cape, NSW, and eastern VIC. Form large schools on coastal reefs, feeding on zooplankton in the water column.

Biology

Females spawn demersal eggs that are guarded by the male parent until the larvae hatch.
