Genus Trygonoptera
A small endemic genus of stingarees with a slightly depressed to rounded tail, no lateral skin folds, and the posterolateral border of the nostril forming a broad flattened lobe.
Species of Trygonoptera differ from those of the genus Urolophus in having broad flattened fleshy lobes on the mid-lateral margin of each nostril. Such lobes are absent in Urolophus.
The genus contains 6 species, all confined to the southern half of Australia.
