Distribution

Off the Northwest Shelf, Western Australia, and off Cape York, Queensland, to off Gabo Island, Victoria. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical, Western and Central North Pacific.

Features

Dorsal fin V, 29-32; Anal fin IV, 14-16; Vertebrae 29.

Polymixia longispina Deng, Xiong & Zhan 1983, Acta Zootaxonomica Sinica 8(3): 317, figs 1, 2B. Type locality: China Sea, depth 270-278 m.
