Summary:
A pale grey damselfish with scattered blue spots on the head, a narrow black margin on the spinous dorsal fin, and a small, inconspicuous dusky "ear" spot near the origin of the lateral line. Juveniles have a black ocellus at the base of the soft dorsal fin.

Dorsal fin X111, 15; Anal fin 11, 15-16; Pectoral fin 18; Caudal fin 13 branched rays: Gill rakers on first arch (total) 7-8 + 13-14 = 21., gill rakers on first branchial arch 8 + 13 (7 + 14); Tubed lateral-line scales 18; Vertical scale rows 28; Scales above lateral-line to base of dorsal-fin spines 11-12; Scales below lateral-line to anus 9. Body moderately deep, 2.1 in SL. |
Colour |
Overall pale grey, nearly whitish with scattered blue spots on head; narrow black margin distally on spinous dorsal fin; juvenile paratype with pale-rimmed black spot, about pupil size, at base of soft dorsal rays 8-11. |
Etymology |
The specific name is from the Latin limosus (= muddy), in reference to the silty nature of the habitat in which this species occurs. |
