Summary:
Body greyish anteriorly, yellowish-grey on the upper rear, with darker scale margins, a large black spot on the pectoral-fin base and a dark margin on the caudal fin.

Distribution |
Recorded in Australia from Rowley Shoals and Scott Reef, Western Australia, and Lizard Island to Thedford Reef, Queensland. Found elsewhere in the tropical, west Pacific. Inhabits outer reef slopes and deep walls to 50 m, usually below 20 m. |
Feeding |
Omnivore - feeds on zooplankton and algae. |
Biology |
Males and females form pairs during the breeding season. Females lay demersal adherent eggs that are guarded by the male parent until the larvae hatch. |
