East of Tathra, New South Wales, to east of Cape Barren Island, Tasmania; also Tasman Sea and Southern Ocean outside AUS EEZ - Kerguelen Islands and likely around Heard and MacDonald Islands. Elsewhere the species occurs in the temperate, south Indo-Pacific. |
Etymology |
The species is named australis in reference to its occurrence in the waters of the Southern Hemisphere. |
