Port Hedland, Northwest Shelf, Western Australia, to Townsville, Queensland. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical, Indo-west-central Pacific. |
Features |
Dorsal fin 18–21; Anal fin 15–17; Pectoral fin 14–15; Pelvic fin 8; Lower gill rakers 21–32. Body elongated, cylindrical, slender (16–22% SL); belly rounded without prepelvic or postpelvic scutes. Premaxillae rectangular; branchiostegal rays numerous (13–18). Scales cycloid with numerous tiny radiating striae posteriorly. |
Feeding |
Feeds on zooplankton, including crustaceans and smaller fishes. |
