Summary:
A yellowish-brown tongue sole with mottled dark brown blotches, often forming irregular cross bands, dark brown dashes along the dorsal and anal fins, and no pelvic fin on the blind side.

Indian Island west of Darwin, Northern Territory, to north of Port Douglas, Queensland. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical, east-Indo-west Pacific. |
Features |
Dorsal fin 90-100; Anal fin 72-78; Vertebrae 44-49; Midlateral-line scales 78-99; Scale rows between lateral lines on eyed side 15-19. Dorsal and anal fins joined to caudal fin. Eyes both on the left side of the body separated by a narrow space; mouth asymmetrical; rostral hook below mouth. Ocular side with 2 lateral lines. Pelvic fin absent on blind side. Scales ctenoid. |
