Summary:
A neon blue damselfish with a yellow anal fin and a broad black streak along the lower part of the caudal fin. Occurs in the Australian territory of Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean.

Distribution

Christmas Island in the eastern Indian Ocean. Elsewhere the species occurs in the eastern Indian Ocean from the Andaman Sea, south to Bali, Indonesia. Small groups usually inhabit reef edges over rubble and dead coral on outer slopes and inshore areas.

Features

Dorsal fin XIII, 13-14; Anal fin II, 13-14; Pectoral fin 16-17; Lateral line pores 17-18.
Body relatively elongate, compressed; hind margin of preopercle serrate; suborbital naked, with smooth ventral margin. Teeth on jaws biserial, incisor-like. Caudal fin emarginate.
