Tasman Sea, Norfolk Ridge south of Norfolk Island (AUS EEZ), and the Chesterfield Islands (New Caledonia).

Dorsal fin 10-12; Anal fin 13-14; pectoral fin 18-21; Pelvic fin 11-12; Gill rakers 30-36; Vertebrae 49-50; Teeth on tongue 0.


Lower jaw with sparse dentition.

Etymology

The specific name elongatus refers to the elongated body of this species.
