Western Australia and Queensland, and the Sulu and Timor seas.

Similar Species

Lythrichthys dentatus differs from all other congeners in having long, spaced canine teeth on the jaws, and generally a single straight row (totaling ca. 40 teeth) on the premaxilla (vs. short dense jaw teeth, and 2–8 irregular rows totaling >100 teeth on the premaxilla in all other congeners,
