Distribution	NW of Geraldton to N of Cape Lambert, Western Australia, at depths of 183-252 m. Elsewhere the species occurs in the Western North Pacific: Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan.
Features	Dorsal fin 6+46~50; Anal fin 40~45; Pectoral fin 19~26; Pelvic fin 8~9; Scale rows between middle of first dorsal-fin base and lateral line 8~10; Gill rakers 2~3+5~6=7~8. Body depth 3.8~4.6 in SL, body width 4.3~6.9 in SL, head length 3.2~4.3 in SL, predorsal length 3.1~3.8 in SL, prepelvic length 4.0~5.1 in SL. Snout length 3.8~4.9 in HL, orbit diameter 3.4~4.0 in HL, interorbital width 3.8~4.9 in HL, post-orbital length 1.6~2.0 in HL, upper jaw 1.7~2.2 in HL, pelvic-fin length 1.1~1.4 in HL, barbel length 3.9~6.8 in HL.
Etymology	Named for the type locality: off Tosa Province, Shikoku, Japan.
