Summary:
A monotypic genus endemic to southern Australia.
Body moderately shallow and elongated, head of moderate size with a convex dorsal profile; eye small, upper jaw not reaching eye; jaw teeth conical, in a single series, anterior pair in each jaw enlarged and curved outwards; body scales small, cycloid, firmly attached; scales absent from head and dorsal and anal fin bases; dorsal fin of uniform height, lateral line bent abruptly downwards beneath soft dorsal fin.
