Genus Schuettea


Summary:

A genus of silver batfishes with both species endemic to temperate Australian waters, one on the east coast and the other species in the southwest.

Diagnostic characters:

  • Mouth reaching almost to below centre of eye
  • Scales ctenoid, weakly attached;
  • Caudal fin distinctly forked;
  • Pectoral fin of moderate size, with the upper rays distinctly longer than those below.
