Distribution

Off Wooli, New South Wales, to SW of Cape Leeuwin, Western Australia; also the Lord Howe Rise and Norfolk Ridge. Elsewhere the species is widespread in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans, as well as the Mediterranean Sea.

Feeding

Feeds on a range of pelagic crustaceans including euphausiids, mysids and hyperiid amphipods, as well as on juvenile pelagic fishes.

Fisheries

The species may be taken as by-catch in commercial bottom trawls.
