Distribution

 Introduced from Mexico to Central America via the aquarium trade to Angourie (in a disused quarry), New South Wales, and recorded from cooling ponds of the Hazelwood Power Station, Morwell, Victoria. Until the March 2017 closure of Hazelwood, the species survived in ponds heated by water discharge from the power station.
