Summary:
A semi-transparent goby covered in fine dark speckling, with a brown stripe on side of snout, a brown stripe along the predorsal midline, and a brown smudge on the upper part of the gill cover.

Distribution

Recorded in Australia from Rowley Shoals, and Scott Reef, Western Australia, to Cartier Reef, Timor Sea, and Wigram Island, Northern Territory, Boot Reef, Coral Sea, and the northern part of the Great Barrier Reef to One Tree Island, Queensland. Occurs elsewhere in the tropical, Indo-west Pacific.
Inhabits coral reefs, usually on branches of Acropora corals  in depths of 3-30 m, usually above 15 m.

Features

Dorsal fin VI + I, 8-9; Anal fin I, 7-9; Pectoral fin 14-16; Longitudinal scale series 23-31 (total). 
Body depth at anus 4.5-6.7 in SL; head and neck scaled; gill opening restricted to pectoral fin base.
