Distribution

Endemic to Western Australia, from Mandurah to the Kimberley region. Shelters in crevices on shallow coral and rocky reefs.

Etymology

The specific name lineatus is from Latin meaning 'lined', in reference to the longitudinal dark stripes on the body.
