Distribution |
Scott Reef, Western Australia, Ashmore Reef in the Timor Sea, Cartier Island, Northern Territory, One Tree I., Queensland, Escape Reef, Queensland, Osprey Reef, Queensland, Portlock Reef, Queensland, Lihou Reef, Queensland. The species is widespread in the eastern Indian Ocean and western Pacific Ocean: Indonesia (Bitung), Thailand (Andaman Sea), Papua New Guinea, Australia (Timor Sea and Coral Sea), Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, and Cook Is, southern Japan (Ryukyu Is.), and Guam. Inhabits shallow inshore reefs and seaward reefs exposed to wave action. Individuals may shelter in caves with rich invertebrate growth. |
