Distribution

Off South Stradbroke Island, QLD (27°46'S) Shark Bay, WA (26°15'S), also the Lord Howe Rise north of Middleton Reef (29°14'S, 159°02'E); temperate, discontinuous, Indo-West Pacific, South Atlantic.

Features

Dorsal fin 52-58; Anal fin 103-110. Second and third dorsal fins widely spaced.

Tripterophycis gilchristi Boulenger, 1902, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist. 7 9(55): 335. Type locality: off Table Mountain, South Africa, 250 fathoms.
