Summary:
A longfin with three yellowish-brown bars on a pale head, six faint dark bars along the body, several white dots on the upper side, white tips on the dorsal-fin spines, and alternating pale and dark bars or bands on the soft dorsal, anal and caudal fins.

Distribution |
Rowley Shoals, Western Australia, and the Great Barrier Reef and reefs in the Coral Sea, to NE of Dunk Island, Queensland. Elsewhere the species occurs in tropical, east-Indo-west Pacific: Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Tonga and Samoa. Inhabits caves and crevices on outer reef slopes in depths of 2-35 m. |
