Summary:
Colourful hulafish with bright red, yellow, black and white stripes. Males have a distinct lanceolate caudal fin, whereas females have a more rounded caudal fin.
The common names 'hulafish' refers to undulating swimming motion of this species.

Distribution |
Endemic to eastern Australia from Moreton Bay, QLD, to Green Cape, NSW, and eastern VIC. Form large schools on coastal reefs, feeding on zooplankton in the water column. |

Biology |
Females spawn demersal eggs that are guarded by the male parent until the larvae hatch. |
