Summary:
A semi-translucent pygmygoby with a forked tail, a pinkish lower body, a vertical yellow streak on most scales, yellowish fins with pinkish streaks on the caudal fin, and bands/stripes on the dorsal and anal fins.

Distribution

Known from the southern part of the Great Barrier Reef, and Cocos (Keeling) Islands in the eastern Indian Ocean. Elsewhere, the species occurs in the tropical Indo-west Pacific.
Inhabits steep outer reef slopes, and is often seen swimming upside-down in caves.

Features

Dorsal fin VI + I,9-10; Anal fin I,9-11; Pectoral fin 15-16, 9-10 branched; Longitudinal scale series 23-26; Predorsal scales 2-5.
Body depth ~4.5-4.8 in SL; second and third dorsal-fin spines  elongate; fifth pelvic-fin ray branched, equal in length to fourth ray; caudal fin forked; scales absent from cheek and opercle.
