Summary:
A pale purplish-grey pygmygoby with rows of large orange spots along the body (sometimes forming stripes), spots on the head  becoming reddish below, and a dark brown 'shoulder' spot.

Distribution

Recorded in Australia from Cassini Island, Western Australia, Cartier Reef in the Timor Sea, and the Lizard Island area, Queensland. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical West-Pacific.
Inhabits caves and crevices on outer reefs.

Etymology

The species is named fangi for Prof. Lee-Shing Fang, head of the Museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium
