Summary:
A pink anthiid with a yellowish head, and a row of distinct red saddles or wide bars separated by pale areas along the upper side, ending in a large red blotch on the upper part of the caudal peduncle. Males have an elongated third dorsal-fin spine.

Distribution

Recorded from the Australian territory of Christmas Island, Indian Ocean. Elsewhere the species occurs in the Indo-west Pacific from Indonesia, Palau, the Marshall Islands north to Japan and south to New Caledonia. Forms large schools on deep reefs in depths to 63 m.
