Summary:
A small sandy coloured duckbill with pale brown cross bars and irregular blotches on the upper side, a conspicuous blotch on upper part of the tail base, a black first dorsal fin black, and a yellow and pale brown bands on the tail. Some individuals are dark brown.
The Broad Duckbill is extremely well-camouflaged duckbill and usually buries in sand during the day.

Distribution |
Endemic to the southern half of Australia, from Seal Rocks, New South Wales, to Kalbarri, Western Australia, and King Island, Tasmania. Inhabits sandy areas near reefs, usually buried in the sand with only the eyes exposed. |
