Summary:
A whitish to pale yellowish deepwater butterflyfish with a black bar through the eye, a diagonal bar from the top of the head to behind the pectoral fin base, and a broad diagonal black area on the rear of the body.

Distribution |
Recorded at Rowley Shoals, Western Australia and Holmes Reef in the Coral Sea off Queensland. The species occurs elsewhere in the Western Pacific, usually in depths of 20-80 m, although individuals have been seen as shallow as 8 m. The species usually occurs in pairs on steep or undercut outer reef drop-offs, often in areas with abundant gorgonians and black coral, usually below 40 m. |
