South of Mallacoota, Victoria, to the Great Australian Bight, South Australia. Elsewhere this bathydemersal species is widespread on the continental slope and abyssal plain in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. |
Etymology |
The specific name leptolepis is from the Greek leptos (= thin) and lepis (= scale), in reference to the “thin and deciduous” scales of this species. |
