Distribution

North of the Dampier Archipelago, Northwest Shelf, Western Australia, to the Arafura Sea, north of Bathurst Island, Northern Territory. Elsewhere the species occurs off the south coast of Java, Indonesia.

Etymology

The specific name is from Latin flavus (= yellow) and linea (= line), in reference to the characteristic yellow longitudinal stripe of the species.
