North of the Dampier Archipelago, Northwest Shelf, Western Australia, to the Arafura Sea, north of Bathurst Island, Northern Territory. Elsewhere the species occurs off the south coast of Java, Indonesia. |

Etymology |
The specific name is from Latin flavus (= yellow) and linea (= line), in reference to the characteristic yellow longitudinal stripe of the species. |
