Distribution

Exmouth, Western Australia, to the Whitsunday Islands, Queensland. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical, west Pacific.
Inhabits burrows in mud-sand substrates.

Etymology

The species is named in honour of Rev. W.S. Chaseling, who presented to holotype to Gilbert Whitley.
