Distribution

Off Danger Point, southern Queensland, south to off Gabo Island, Victoria, and on the Lord Howe Rise in the Tasman Sea. Elsewhere the species occurs on the northern Norfolk Ridge off New Caledonia.

Biology

Eucla cods have a ventral light organ containing bioluminescent bacteria.

Euclichthys robertsi Last & Pogonoski 2020, Zootaxa 4758(2): 244, Figs 1C, 3B, 4A, 5, 8, 9C. Type locality: “B”, northern Norfolk Ridge, south-east of New Caledonia, 24°54’S, 168°22’E, 535–545 m.
