Genus Samariscus


Summary:

Samariscus is a genus of right-eye flounder with the following combination of characters: four or five ocular-side pectoral-fin rays, branched middle caudal fin rays, no prolonged pelvic-fin or anterior dorsal-fin rays, and in lacking a pectoral fin on the blind side. The genus comprises 19 species found in moderately deep waters of the tropical and warm temperate regions the Indo-West-Central Pacific. Three species are known from Australian waters.
