Genus Histiopterus

A monotypic genus with elongate third and fourth dorsal-fin spines, and the second anal fin spine the longest; abdominal vertebrae 12; eight branched caudal-fin rays in upper caudal-fin lobe; posterior part of urostyle with a long spine.
