A brown combtooth blenny with a row of small white spots above a dark line along the upper side, and a series of white spots or dashes between two dark mid-lateral lines.

Distribution |
Recorded from Rowley Shoals and Scott Reef off Western Australia. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical, west Pacific: Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia and Timor Leste. Inhabits sheltered reefs with rich coral growth in depths to 12 m. |

Similar Species |
Schroeder's Combtooth Blenny differs from the Whitespotted Combtooth Blenny, Ecsenius trilineatus, (also has white spots and narrow dark lines on the body) in having two mid-lateral close together with a series of white spots between them. |

Etymology |
The species is named in honour of the scientific illustrator Jack R. Schroeder whose “excellent illustrations have so greatly enhanced the usefulness of our blennioid studies”. |
