Distribution |
Known from Rowley Shoals, Western Australia. Elsewhere the species occurs in the East-Indo-west-central Pacific from the East Indies to the Marshall Islands, Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia and north to Japan. Inhabits patch reefs in lagoons, front reef slopes, and silty areas in depths of 2-10 m. The solitary adults shelter among corals and boulders, under plate corals, and in seagrass meadows. Juveniles often hide amongst sea urchin spines. |
