Summary:
A semitransparent greyish cardinalfish with an orange head, close-set narrow orange somewhat vertical lines along side, a large black spot on the caudal peduncle, two blue stripes on the snout to the eye, and a white tip on the anal fin.

Distribution

Off Tantabiddi Creek, WA, to Escape Reef, QLD, Scott Reef, WA, and Ashmore and Cartier Islands in the Timor Sea. Occurs elsewhere in the tropical, Indo-west-central Pacific. Inhabits coastal reefs and reef lagoons. A nocturnal species that usually forming dense aggregations above branching corals or at cave entrances during the day.
