Summary:
A pearly transparent cardinalfish with brownish or reddish stripes radiating from the eyes, five reddish or brownish-red bars on the body from the nape to below the level of the middle of the second dorsal fin, and fine brown mottling on the spinous dorsal and pelvic fins.
The species is very well-camouflaged amongst soft corals of the genus Sinularia.

Scott Reef, Western Australia, depth 7-10 m. Elsewhere the species occurs in the tropical, west-central Pacific (Philippines to Australia and Palau). Individuals shelter among soft corals of the genus Sinularia. |
