Recorded from the Australian territory of Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean. Inhabits surge channels, tide pools and the upper edge of outer reef slopes in 0-5 m. Elsewhere, the species occurs in the Indo-west-central pacific. |
Etymology |
The specific name bunares is from the Latin prefix bu- (large) and nares (nostris) in reference to the large nostrils of this species. |
