Distribution

Off Newcastle, New South Wales (62-77 m). Elsewhere, the species is known from Japan, Taiwan and the Andaman Sea.

Etymology

The specific name taeniosoma is from the Greek taenia (= band, ribbon) and soma (= body) in reference to the elongate body of this species.
