Summary:
A golden grunter with an olive green sheen, with an almost white midventral line, and sometimes with 5–6 dark, slightly wavy, narrow horizontal stripes along the sides, a silver or gold stripe running below the eye to the snout, a dark spot on upper edge of gill cover, and a dark blotch on the base of the anal fin.

Occurs throughout the Mitchell River catchment in the northern Kimberley region, Western Australia. |
Colour |
Overall gold with an olive green sheen, darker dorsally, almost white along the midventral line; sometimes with 5–6 dark, slightly wavy, narrow horizontal stripes; horizontal silver or gold stripe running below eye to snout; dark spot present on upper edge of gill cover. Body scales with dark posterior band of pigmentation. Anal fin with a basal blotch extending posteriorly on anterior rays. Caudal fin membranes dusky or gold with clear edges. Dorsal fin membranes gold or black with clear edges. Soft dorsal may exhibit dark stripe running the length of the fin, close to the base. All other fins clear. |
